Privacy Policy
Last updated 20 October 2026
The short version
- Stan! doesn't collect your personal data. There's no account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking.
- Your photos, designs and settings stay on your device. They're never uploaded to us.
- Purchases go through Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your name or payment details.
- If you email us, we use your message only to reply to you.
Who we are
Stan! is made by roastynote, a creative studio in Tokyo, Japan, run as a sole proprietorship. roastynote is responsible for the app and for this policy. You can reach us at hello@roastynote.com; if you ask, we'll give you the owner's name and address without delay.
What stays on your device
- The photos you choose or take, and the working copies Stan makes from them
- Your projects, Compose pages and exported files
- Your settings: appearance, language, sound and haptics
- On iPhone and iPad, one flag recording that Stan has asked for an App Store rating, so it never asks twice
- Whether this device has the Workshop unlock, so it keeps working offline
All of this is kept in Stan's own storage on your device. We can't see or reach it. If your device backs up its apps, for example with iCloud Backup or Google's device backup, those backups can include Stan's data under your own Apple or Google account settings.
Photos and camera
Stan opens your device's photo picker, so it sees only the photos you choose. It uses the camera only when you choose to take a photo. If you save an export to Photos, your device asks your permission to add it; that permission lets Stan add images, not read your library.
When Stan goes online
Stan connects to the internet only for the following.
- Purchases. Buying or restoring the unlock goes through Apple or Google. See "Purchases" below.
- Sharing. When you share an export, it goes to the app or service you pick, under that service's own privacy policy.
- Ratings. On iPhone and iPad, after your first export Stan may show Apple's standard rating prompt once. Any rating or review you leave goes to Apple.
Purchases
Stan's one-time unlock is sold through Apple's App Store or Google Play. The store processes the payment and holds your account and receipt. We don't receive your name, email address or payment details; the stores give us only anonymous, combined sales reports. When you restore a purchase, Stan asks the store, which checks your account.
Diagnostics from Apple or Google
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple or Google may send us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. They don't identify you. You can turn this off at any time: on iPhone and iPad under Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
What we don't do
- No account or sign-in
- No analytics, advertising or crash-reporting tools inside the app
- No tracking across other apps or websites, and no selling or sharing of personal data
- Nothing you make is used to train AI
If you contact us
When you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach, such as a screenshot or your device model. We use them only to answer you and to fix the problems you report. We keep support emails for up to one year after your question is resolved, then delete them. Only the people who answer support can read them. Mail to us passes through Cloudflare's email routing and is stored in Gmail by Google, on our behalf.
Children
Stan is made for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. If a child has emailed us and a parent or guardian wants that email deleted, write to us and we'll delete it.
Your choices and rights
- Delete a project: in Projects, choose a project's delete option, then Delete project. It's removed from your device.
- Delete everything: delete the app. All of Stan's data on the device goes with it; existing device backups follow your backup settings.
- Support emails: ask us to show, correct or delete them.
Depending on where you live, for example under Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information or the GDPR in the EU and UK, you have rights over personal information we hold. For Stan, that is only your emails to us. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects what data Stan handles, we'll also say so in the app's release notes before it takes effect.
